Marketing is an ever-evolving field with a broad range of opportunities like copywriters, SEO analysts, digital marketing strategists (like me!), and more that help promote a business’s product or service by creating compelling messages that speak to and resonate with the needs and desires of business owners target audiences.
Honestly, it’s a massive game-changer for your sales, business growth, and overall success in numerous ways! But marketing any business isn’t cookie-cutter. Each of our clients is entirely different, and we have to build a strategy that makes them love marketing, so they WANT to do it and hit the basics to help their business succeed.
But this is also why I love marketing so much; it truly is something you get to craft around who you are as a business owner, what your customers/clients need to say yes to buying, and what makes YOU want to market consistently.

More Than Local
When business owners get started, their first instinct might be to focus on reaching out to people in their local area. However, marketing provides the opportunity to expand beyond a local community and reach out to a more global audience.
In the beginning, although I did dabble a bit with more “outside-the-community” clients, I was more focused on having local clientele. Then when Covid hit, I quickly realized how much of a need there was for my services locally and worldwide. DMS ended up scaling VERY fast with clients all over the US after I started marketing myself online and sharing my business owner journey.
Sales Are EASIER
When you have evidence supporting why your product or service should be the top choice and consistently market that proof, it makes sales (and marketing😉) significantly easier. However, the key is consistency. If you don’t stay consistent with marketing yourself and explain why potential customers/clients should pick your product or service, then it’ll take much longer for people to consider your business. Or, sadly, maybe even choose a competitor instead.
Expressive Yet Still Catering
Remember how I said earlier that marketing comes in many forms? Well, that’s what makes it so interesting!
Instead of sticking to a single thing, there are many opportunities to express one’s creativity while still curating to your target audiences’ needs and wants. Honestly, I feel like it’s a lot more fun for both myself and my clients when I craft strategies based on their lifestyle, personality, and goals.
I love marketing because I see her as the “fun sister” while sales is the “achieving sister.” While both are essential for a business’s success, one certainly adds an extra layer of excitement to the mix!
Conclusion
Marketing is crucial for any business owner’s success. The benefits of this field are endless – I could even fill a book with them! However, trying to handle marketing alone can be a daunting task.
It’s a continuous process that requires consistent monitoring and fine-tuning, and if you try to manage everything yourself, that can quickly lead to exhaustion and burnout. I did this when I started my business; it was NOT fun.
