Why Analytics Matter?
Learning the analytics and measurements of social media is the key to knowing whether or not your strategy is working. Posting on the right days, having the right content, using the correct hashtags, and more are all necessary for social media success. Every platform will have its own way of showing you those metrics, typically listed under an insights tab or, more specifically, engagements.
Learning Metrics
Learning terminology can be tough; we can help you with that here. Like it is with any industry, terms are only sometimes straightforward. For example, reach and impressions are two separate metrics used in social media, and both sound like they could mean the same thing. However, this is a bit of an “all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares” situation. Reach refers to individual viewers, whereas impressions are the number of overall views, meaning one reach can be several impressions.
Which Metrics Matter Most
Engagements – Likes, Shares, Comments, Clicks (any action by a follower)
Awareness – Reach and Impressions
Referrals – Website and shop visits from social media links
Conversions – A sale will be attributed to a link followed from social media (we ❤️ these)
Clicks – Measured in total clicks, CTR (click through rate), CPC (cost per click)
Utilizing this Knowledge
Just as Engagements are a valuable metric, so is engaging. Your comments, likes, and messages help grow your brand organically. Reply to a comment, like a comment, and share a review on your story. Doing these will not only encourage organic interest and engagement but will separate you from the competition that is partaking in the dreaded “post and ghost” technique, don’t be that person.
And remember, if you need help with keeping up with your marketing content and creating the best you possibly can! Think about hiring an expert, we would love to support you and your business!
