Having an effective, strategic plan can make or break your business. This is a fact with almost every business owner. However, did you know that you can start losing focus and get off track roughly after 90 days? That’s why quarterly planning exists!
It allows you to break down your annual plan into smaller chunks to effectively set and establish steps for those goals. This allows you to check on your progress of growth and the past quarter’s achievements. Letting you and your team, if you have one, feel more motivated and focused and have an easier, more organized time overall.
Now that we’ve discussed why it’s so important, let’s discuss some steps you should take when creating a quarterly plan.
Post Review
You can’t start making a plan without knowing what you want or should be doing for your business, right? So, before doing anything else, review your annual plan.
Ask yourself questions like, “what did I succeed at?”, “what needs improvement?”, “what’s something new I want to try for my business?”; and so forth until you have a good list of ideas that will help you start building your new yearly goals.
Smaller Goals & Steps To Achieve Them
Once you have a good idea about the yearly goals you want to achieve for your business, take those same goals and chunk them down into smaller, more focused, and manageable objectives you can accomplish each quarter.
Then, with each smaller goal, write down each step needed to achieve said goals and set deadlines!
I know this might sound unnecessary, but doing so will help you stay more organized, know EXACTLY what you need to do to accomplish each goal, and know if you are staying on track with your business growth.
Celebrate Successes
It can sometimes feel like you haven’t accomplished much, but when you use quarterly planning to your advantage, you can see how much you’ve accomplished over the year.
Remember that running a business isn’t just all work and no play. So give yourself the chance to celebrate when you accomplish a step or goal; because you are doing fantastic!
